Metro Gymnastics Center’s staff is carefully selected and they are continually improving their professionalism through education and certification programs. Metro Gymnastics Center provides staff training in a multitude of physical activities that will benefit your child throughout their lives. The entire Metro staff is required to be First Aid/CPR certified as well as Level 1 Accredited.
Dale AgbayaniDale is the Cheer Program Director, Head Cheer Tumbling and All-Stars Coach. He was a competitive gymnast for 11 years and has coached competitive gymnastics for 13 years and cheerleading for 7 years. His past experience includes serving as a Girls Team Coach for levels 4-8, Director of Cheer Authority Titans in Florida, as well as the Head tumbling coach for several national championship teams at all levels. Dale coaches individuals, stunt groups, and teams. He is US All-Star Federation (USASF) credentialed through Level 5, a certified judge through the OCCA (Oregon's Cheerleading Coaches Association) and is first-aid/CPR certified.
Marci BellMarci competed in gymnastics competitively for 7 years and has a background in dance. She has been coaching since the early 1990s and has judged competitive gymnastics since 2002. Marci brings a lifelong passion for gymnastics and can't imagine any other career. Working with talented young gymnsats is what she loves coming to work each day. Marci is PDP-1 and PDP-2, CPR, and First Aid certified.
Luke CartmillLuke has been involved with the sport of gymnastics in one form or another for over 20 years. He has been an instructor at Metro for almost 10 years, working with all levels and all ages. He is now currently the Boy’s Competitive Team Head Coach.
Julie CarverJulie is the mother of 6 children, 3 of which are on the team at Metro Gymnastics. She has come to know and love the sport of gymnastics through her children. She has seen her children develop a strong sense of self and a high level of discipline, strength, and dedication through their participation in gymnastics. Julie works at the front desk, usually in the late afternoons and evenings when her children are practicing.
Marylynn CraigMarylynn has been teaching for 28 years. Her most recent job was Director/Teacher at Happy Hilltop Preschool where she taught 3, 4 & 5 year olds for 13 years. The church where Happy Hilltop was located decided to close the preschool and do some other outreach programs. Marylynn always knew she wanted to be a teacher. When she was just 6 years old she would play school with her friends and she would be the teacher. She loved it and still does! Her experience ranges from infancy through 18 years of age. But her favorite is the preschool years. She has worked with state, city, county, public and private schools in California & Oregon. She has her certificate in early childhood education. Marylynn enjoys spending time with her family. She is happily married for 30 years and has a daughter named Brittany who will be a junior at Arizona State University. Go Sun devils!
Mary DeeringMary has spent the last two years as a preschool teacher’s assistant at Happy Hilltop Preschool. She decided to join MaryLynn there after having sent her 3 children through MaryLynn’s preschool program and falling in love with the world of preschoolers. In addition Mary has worked at Tualatin Elementary as a Literacy Assistant. Prior to working with children Mary spent 15 years as a Human Resources and Payroll Coordinator for a locally owned resort property management company. Mary lives in Tualatin with her husband and 3 children, Emily, Alec and Jake. She is an active volunteer in her children’s schools and at church. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, baking, scrap booking and reading.
Betsy DunmireBetsy did recreational and High School gymnastics for seven years in Grand Rapids, Michigan. While in Michigan she taught for five years before moving to Oregon. Aside from teaching preschool, recreational gymnastics and cheer classes at Metro, Betsy is working toward her MFA in Directing Theatre at the University of Portland.
Ryan was one of the original gymnastics crew at Metro who helped to open the gym and trained under Dave at Metro for nearly 9 years. He attended the Colorado Springs Olympic Training center in 1991 as an 11 year old skill achievement program qualifier. As Ryan’s gymnastics career progressed he became a specialist and placed 2nd in the nation on the Still Rings at the Junior Olympic nationals held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Also, while competing, Ryan began coaching for Metro in 1993 and continued to early 2000. After leaving Oregon to pursue music product promotion, Ryan returned in February of 2007 to coach and pursue music performance opportunities near and abroad.
Donna EkdahlDonna has been involved with the care of children for the past 13 years. Beginning with the birth of her son Joel and then 11 years of her in home daycare. When Donna’s daughter Sophia turned 6 and entered first grade it was time for a change and working with MaryLynn (my children’s previous preschool teacher) was a happy and wonderful way to begin working away from home. My hobbies are my children, who I enjoy watching playing sports for my son and taking dance class and watching old silly musicals with my daughter.
Toni EvertsToni grew up in Wisconsin and participated on Gymnastics teams in middle school and high school and has a background in Dance. She graduated from Cal State Sacramento with a degree in Recreation Administration and a minor in Programming for Special Populations.
Georganne HodgsonGeorganne started working at the front desk four years ago when her son was on the Metro competitive team. Although her son graduated and is now attending college, she still enjoys working at Metro. She is the mother of 5 children. She also teaches educational preschool during the day. In her free time she likes watching her kids play sports.
Cindy KleinCindy has been teaching at Metro Gymnastics for 10 years. She has been the Mini-Mover Gymnastics Director for 6 years & loves working with all of the youngest gymnasts! She is also First-Aid & CPR certified as well as certified with the KAT (Kinder Accreditation for teachers) program through USA gymnastics.
David KleinDavid has been the owner of Metro Gymnastics Center since its inception in 1990. He has been teaching children of all ages in gymnastics for the past 28 years. David is currently the Men’s Region 2 Chairman, is first aid/CPR certified, Level 2 Accredited, KAT Accredited and safety certified. He is also currently on the Leadership Council for Gold Medal Children’s Activity Centers (GMCAC), which is part of the Character Counts Coalition.
Bryan MauriceBryan started gymnastics at the age of 7. He started competing as a class 6 at the age of 9 and is a three time national qualifier. He has enjoyed gymnastics from the very start and has never lost interest throughout his 11 years as a gymnast. He started teaching at the age of 14 and has never found a dull moment with all his Boys Recreation classes. When he’s not teaching or working out he is usually doing school and homework, and for fun time he hangs out with his friends and goes rock climbing.
Pamela MauricePamela has a Bachelor of Science degree from Boise State University in Physical Education, specializing in gymnastics and competed for four years. Pam has been an Oregon resident for 30 years working in the gymnastics field judging and coaching for 20 years. She raised her three boys to love gymnastics too, and the youngest Bryan is now a competitor on the Boys team at Metro. Pamela has been with Metro for 8 years and loves working with all ages in the preschool and recreational programs, as well as doing birthday parties as Birthday Party Director. Pamela loves teaching kids new skills and helping kids learn self-worth.
Lynn McCaffreyLynn is our Recreational Director and Pro-Shop Manager. She is CPR, First Aid and PDP-1 certified. She is also a National Rated Judge and has been judging for nearly 25 years. Lynn has been involved in gymnastics all her life. She was a High-School gymnast and then received a scholarship to compete for the University of Minnesota. She achieved many honors and awards while at the University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. Lynn's free time is spent with her 4 sons and attending all of their sporting events.
Annette McIsaacAnnette has been office manager at Metro Gymnastics since 1992. Her son Ryan Dwyer was on the boy’s team when Metro first opened in 1990. She has 3 beautiful grandchildren and enjoys doing crafts. Annette is privileged to have met many wonderful customers through the years at Metro who have brought their children to experience the fun sport of gymnastics. She has seen many children excel not only in the sport, but hears from many parents how this sport has built confidence in their child and how their child feels a great sense of achievement, thus fulfilling Metro Gymnastics Center’s Mission Statement.
Susan NormanSusan is currently the Director of The Java Bean. She oversees the day to day operations. She also continues to help in the Front office and assists in the Let’s Paint Studio as needed. Her daughter is a former Metro Gymnastics gymnast.
Brittany PieroneA Girls Recreational Teacher, Brittany has always enjoyed gymnastics. She became involved in gymnastics as a toddler and eventually took the recreational classes at Metro. From that moment on she was in love with gymnastics. Brittany competed for her High School Team in Washington and now attends Lake Oswego High School. Brittany is looking forward to a long career teaching gymnastics.
Wendy RosenfieldWendy Rosenfield runs the "Playhouse Program" at Metro Gymnastics. She has worked with children throughout her career. She was drawn to the field of child development while working as a day camp counselor following her high school graduation. Wendy graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a BA in Psychology and received her certificate in Early Childhood Education so that she could be a Lead Pre School Teacher. She went on to teach preschool in California at Valley Beth Shalom Preschool for 4 years. While working at Valley Beth, Wendy earned her Masters and Credential in Early Childhood Special Education from California State University, Northridge. With her Masters and Certification in hand, she started her own special education preschool program at a Los Angeles Unified School in California. Wendy has been married for 13 years and is the mother of two wonderful daughters - age 9-1/2 and 6-1/2. She and her family have lived in Portland since 2004. In her spare time, Wendy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, working out, going to the movies, traveling and trying different restaurants.
Cameron StahlCameron is teaches Boys Recreational Gymnastics, Mini-Movers and is an occasional substitute for the Compulsory Boys Competitive Team. He is a Level 10 Gymnast on the Boys Optional Competitive Team and has been training in gymnastics at Metro Gymnastics Center for 10 years.
Sara TrudeauSara was a former gymnast under Tracy Meador. She received a gymnastics scholarship to Western Michigan University and after graduating she wanted to move back to Oregon to be closer to family and friends. She now is a P.E. teacher and coach with Tracy and James at the optional level.
In 1982 Joy received her Bachelor’s degree from George Fox College in Music Education. She has been directing Church choirs since 1986 and she is currently the musician at her church. She began working at Metro in 1990, teaching preschool gymnastics and helping out in the office. She is CPR, First Aid, and PDP certified and completed the Kinder Accreditation course.
Trent WellsTrent was one of the original gymnastics crew at Metro who helped to open the gym in 1991, and trained under Dave at Metro for three years before leaving for college. He attended the University of California at Berkeley, where he was a 5-time N.C.A.A. All-American and member of the 1997 team that won the N.C.A.A. Championship. He became a U.S. National Team Member in 1997 and remained on the team until the Olympic Trials in 2000. As a National Team Member, he represented the U.S.A. at many international competitions around the world, including the 1998 Goodwill Games and the 1999 Visa American Cup. In the year 2000, just weeks before the Olympic Team Trials, he was crowned U.S. National Champion on both the Parallel Bars (the event where he is best known for having a move named after him) and the High Bar. After finishing his gymnastics career at the Olympic Trials, he auditioned for Cirque Du Soleil. He was offered a position in the cast of the show Mystère, which is a permanent attraction at the Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas. He was involved in a combination High Bar and Trapeze act performed 60 ft. above the stage, and performed over 1000 shows with Mystère over five years. Now that he has returned “home”, he looks forward to sharing his years of experience with gymnasts of all levels, ages, and ambitions.
