Summer On the Way!
Summer is fast approaching, so it's time to start thinking about adding
another day of gymnastics to your child's summer schedule. Adding
another day really does make a difference in their flexibility and strength
and they learn skills at a much quicker pace.

In January we had a "Pajama Pancake Day" at school. We centered our activities around "The Cat in The Hat" and Teddy Bears. The MWF and Pre-k classes had several stations the children visited during our theme day.
1. Patterning strips on large Cat in the "Hats".
2. Collage creation on "Cat in the Hat face.
3. Art: Make a Cat in the Hat.
4. Game: I can do that!
5. Fruit salad preparation (slicing fruit)
6. Cracking eggs for (scrambled eggs)
7. Order pancake shape station
We read the story the "Cat in the Hat" and had a full breakfast
buffet. It was wonderful~!
Other highlights in the month of January: We went on a field trip to
Krispy Kreme during the letter Kk week. We played many games during
the letter Ll week; Who let the letter out? Red light, Green light,
Look and Listen, Limbo and follow the leader. During Mm week we centered
activities around "Magic Moments," Martin Luther King and the
Magic school bus... Nn was filled with "New Year activities." We
played name bingo made birds' Nests out of pine cones, birdseed and peanut
butter and made the "Emperor's "New Duds".
The TUTH class was filled with Winter Fun! Whirling and Twirling like
snowflakes, Gadget snowflake painting, driving matchbox cars on a snowy
drive through snow "shaving cream" and playing mitten, mitten
who's got the mitten? The children also made a class mural during our
Mouse Paint theme day. What fun we had!!
February came and went so quickly. We are having so much fun with your children!!!!! Some highlights were: Making Valentine's for our loved ones and going to the Post office to mail them home to them. After the field trip to the post office we went to the park for a picnic. Brrr... it was cold but the children had a great time. In our Pre-k class Ava's parents Jed and Arona came in and taught the children a little bit about the Chinese culture and how they celebrate Chinese New Year! They read stories to them, made a Lion stick puppet and we had a parade to music. The children made Chinese lanterns, ate their snack with chop sticks, (rice noodles and mandarin oranges) they even got a fortune cookie. At the end of the day they received money in a red envelope.
At the end of February we had a Dad's afternoon bowling with their preschooler
at Wilsonville Lanes. We had a wonderful turn out and had so much fun
together. We all enjoyed refreshments after the bowling was done. Our
Valentine's party theme was The Queen and King Hearts. The children
decorated cookies, mailed their valentine's, made heart crowns, and heart
flower bouquets. For snack they each prepared their own tart jelly
sandwich and enjoyed strawberries and their cookie too. We played games
and read the story The Queen of Hearts.
March is sure to be full of tricky and fun surprises with the little leprechauns that may visit.
Our Open House was very successful and we are just about full. Please
contact Marylynn Craig at marylynnc@metrogymnastics.com or call 503 888-2014
or 503 620-8939 for more information.
Sincerely,
Teacher Marylynn
