Metro Gymnastics Center, based in Tigard, Oregon, was founded in March of 1990. That month Metro started out with approximately 60 students and has grown to over 1,100 students since that time. Metro has also grown from 11,000 square feet to 21,000 square foot facility. Metro offers a wide variety of gymnastics classes, team gymnastics programs, the Metro Dance Academy, and preschool programs. In addition, we offer dozens of events and activities including Birthday Parties, Summer Camps, Mini-Nationals and Skill Clinics to name a few.
Metro Gymnastics recently received the honor of being designated as a Gold Medal Children’s Activity Center by the prestigious Character Counts!
Owner & Staff
David Klein
David has been the President of Metro Gymnastics Center since its inception in 1990. He has been teaching gymnastics to children of all ages for the past 43 years. Even though he now spends most of his time as the business visionary, his love for children is evident in his caring approach towards them. David is the father of 3 children, 2 dogs and enjoys most anything physical as well as the outdoors. His favorite activities include, weight training, running, biking, water sports and classic cars. David has also coached youth football and youth track for the Tigard Oregon school district. He was a competitive gymnast from 1974 – 1978 at Grant High School and competed for Portland State University in 1978 and 1979.
David has served USA Gymnastics in the following capacities:
As the Oregon State Chairmen from 1989 – 1995
As a member of the Jr. National Coaching Staff from 1992 – 1995.
As the Region 2 Chairman from 1995 – 2019.
As the Chairman of the Men’s Development Program from 2010 – Present.
As the Chairmen of the Men’s Scholarship Panel from 2007 – Present.
David was awarded the highest honor for USA Gymnastics volunteers by receiving the Frank Cumiskey Award in 2019.
Our Staff
Metro’s gymnastics staff is carefully selected and they are continually improving their professionalism through education and certification programs. Metro Gymnastics Center provides staff training in a multitude of physical activities that will benefit your child throughout their lives. All Metro staff are required to be certified in the following areas: First Aid/CPR, Safe Sport, Heads Up Concussion and all staff are registered with NCSI Background Check program.
Our Mission
Since 1990 the staff of Metro Gymnastics Center has been influential in the general development of thousands of local children. We believe that the lessons these children have learned at Metro have helped make them the strong leader, outstanding athletes and confident students they are. This is evident by Metro Gymnastics Center’s Mission Statement:
