What to Expect During Gymnastics Classes & Parties

Mini Movers Gymnastics

  • We have a dressing room and a cubby area to put your belongings into; shoes, socks, and coat.

  • Have your gymnast ready in their leotard (shorts and T-shirt for boys) and hair pulled up and away from the face, and all jewelry removed.

  • All students sit at the edge of our floor and cubby area and wait for the teachers to begin the classes. Gymnasts and/or parents are not allowed out on the floor or equipment prior to class beginning.

  • The Mini Movers, age’s 18mos-5 years old warm-up on the main floor for the morning classes and on the Rec floor (nearest to cubbies) in the afternoon/evening classes.

  • Warm-ups begin with a group song with all the students together and then some cardio running for a few minutes. When finished with the cardio run the students then split up with their individual teacher for stretching and body positions.

  • The gymnasts will then receive approximately 10 minutes on 3 different rotations, with some major fun including, jumping and swinging on a rope into one of our two fluffy foam pits! The students are introduced to the various apparatus which includes the bar, beam, floor exercise basics, jumping off springboards and trampoline. We incorporate strength and flexibility into our rotations in fun and creative ways. We practice hanging and swinging, jumping and landing, balancing, coordination and so much more!

  • When class is over the Teacher will lead the group over to the cubby area for release and stamp time.

  • We do not allow parents onto the gym floor; we have a large viewing area upstairs for you to watch from, with TV monitors that show our different apparatus.

  • Most of our Mini Movers come for their fun work-out one-time a week, but you are always welcome to enroll into multiple classes.

Recreational Gymnastics

  • Have your gymnast ready in their leotard (shorts and T-shirt for boys) and hair pulled up and away from the face and all jewelry removed.

  • All students sit at the edge of our floor and cubby area for the teachers to begin the classes.

  • All Recreational GIRLS warm-up together on the Main Floor. Recreational BOYS warm up with their individual teachers. (The Mini-movers, age’s 2-5 warm-up on the Rec. Floor nearest cubbies). It typically lasts for 10-15 minutes.

  • Warm-ups begin with cardio movements such as jogging, jumping, and galloping. When finished with the cardio all students spread out and stretch out their major muscle groups with their Teacher.

  • The gymnasts will receive 15 minutes on 3 different events. The students will be introduced to the various apparatus. The GIRLS use uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercise, vault, single tramp, tumble tramp and our pits. The BOYS use floor, vault, high bar, parallel bars, pommel horse, rings, single tramp, and tumble tramp. Basics gymnastics skills are taught first including 2 major components of it, strength and flexibility. Learning body control and body awareness is essential in being able to move through our levels and into our more advanced classes or teams.

  • As with all sports the more often one practices and attends the quicker for advancement. You are always welcome to enroll into more than 1-time a week.

Birthday Parties

  • After we book your party time, we will send an email confirmation/information sheet, and the week before your party, a reminder email and we will call several days before your party to confirm the number of guests and review your party details

  • Your instructor will help with table decorations and set up in the party room as well as making sure release forms and name tags are done for all the children.

  • The instructor will also help serve cake during party and oversee opening of presents if you choose to do so toward the end of the party.(many parents take home to open later)

  • Gymnastics Birthday Parties include:

    • 55 Minutes Of Instructed Activity On Some Of The Following:

    • Gymflatables, Obstacle Course, Trampoline, Foam-Filled Pit, 30 Ft.

    • Long Tumble Tramp, a Spring Floor, 3 Person Swing (for ages 9 and under), and for ages

    • 10+ we offer ropes and other age-appropriate activities

    • You have approximately 30 Minutes in the designated party space for Cake, Ice Cream & Presents! (Cake & Ice Cream Provided By Parents)

  • During the party, the birthday girl will be adorned with a festive birthday crown, and the boys receive a birthday Medal. The birthday child will receive a birthday t-shirt and sit in a special birthday chair.

  • All attending children must have a medical release/liability waiver signed by a parent or guardian before they can participate in a party Current Metro students do not need a form.

  • Parents are responsible for bringing their own camera, utensils, drinks, cake and birthday supplies.

  • Parties are specifically geared toward the age of the birthday child and his/her guests, therefore, parents and other adults are asked to refrain from playing on the equipment. Safety is important to us, so if there are small children who are not involved in the party, please keep them off the equipment. PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE FLOOR WITH THE CHILDREN!

  • As fun as it would be to play and party all day, parties are on a tight time schedule, so please try to stay within the time scheduled for your party. Please do not arrive more than 15 minutes before your party begins — and — please be aware of when you are scheduled to be finished.

  • There is most likely a party scheduled immediately following yours. Members of their party will be arriving as you are leaving.

  • Each Metro Party is Unique! The Instruction and activities of your child’s party may be different than the instruction and activities of other parties your child may have attended at Metro. Regardless of the differences, we’re confident that the children will have an exciting and wonderful time.

  • A few days after your party, we will send you a Party Evaluation Form by email. We would appreciate you completing the form and returning to us. Your input is welcome and valued as it helps us maintain or improve the exceptional quality of Metro parties.
