John Sahlein

Staff Instructor

My passion for teaching can be traced back to my pre-professional days. Whether as a member of my high school gymnastics team or a teammate at San Jose State University, I've been on a teaching path from the start. The reason? I like getting people excited about things I'm excited about. Right now, that's gymnastics at Metro Gymnastics Center & Dance Academy.

Outside of the gym, you may find me hiking around the greater Portland/Vancouver area trails, relaxing at one of the many terrific beaches, reading books, or asking me about my sports card Collection. I have a stepdaughter, Jessica who is attending classes at Portland Community College And my daughter Grace, who just finished teaching at Metro,is going to attend the Aveda Beauty Institute in Portland.

As I start to wind down from my 45 years of teaching, coaching (Including judging, men's and women's state chairman, director, and owner) I might not be teaching as many classes as I have in the past, however, I look forward to teaching your child this year. I can't wait to build more memories.
