Meet the Team
Svetlo Stanchev
Men’s Program Director / Boys Team Head Coach
I was born in Bulgaria in a city called Ruse that borders Romania on the beautiful river Danube.
I started Gymnastics when I was 7 years old. After elementary school, I pursued Gymnastics, attending and graduating from a school that focused on athletics.
In my Gymnastics career, I was a multiple National Champion in my event and all-around for my age group. From the ages of 13 to 18 I was selected to be on the Bulgarian national team. My favorite event was Floor even though I was an all-around gymnast. After high school, I studied Gymnastics coaching at the university level at the National Sports Academy.
In 2005 I came to America as a circus actor performing with Ringling Brothers. We had a theater board performance and a tumbling act. I traveled by train as we toured most states and big cities.
I have been Coaching since 2006 and I am a certified Gymnastics judge for our region. I’ve been nominated for Gymnastics coach and judge of the year for the state of Oregon, and have been to the European Championships.
I enjoy the outdoors and traveling to new and different places. I like going camping, hanging out by the river or a lake, and playing and watching sports.
